About Us

Cumbria Mobility is an independent family-run company with over fifteen years experience in the fields of mobility and disability.

We offer an extensive range of mobility equipment products from the UK's leading brands, working with those directly affected by mobility and disability issues, as well as occupational therapists and other industry professionals who are seeking the ideal solution for their patients' needs.

Our Approach

Our simple aim is to supply our customers with the best possible service, ensuring that your purchase of any piece of mobility equipment, large or small is easy and hassle free from start to finish.

We have a great team of experienced highly trained staff who are on hand to advise you on every aspect of your purchase and assist with any problems that you may have, helping you to retain your independence and quality of life.

As many of the products we offer are specialist, we prefer to sell face-to-face, rather than over the internet.

Cumbria Mobility believe this helps us to provide a quality service that benefits the customer, taking the time to assess your requirements and offering a comprehensive experience including advice on purchases, assembled delivery, instruction in use and an aftercare service. History

Cumbria Mobility was formed in March 2002 and I quickly discovered that running your own business can be very pressurised. There were no systems in place, very little stock holding and we only had two staff, including the director.

I put everything on the line financially to get going, nevertheless even with limited funds, I was able to develop the business. 'Determination, gumption and enthusiasm' was the order of the day.

The hard work paid off and we relocated to larger premises in Carlisle during 2009, opposite the Cumberland Infirmary and began offering a wider choice of mobility scooters as well as high end powered wheelchairs, stair lifts, rise and recliners and daily living aids, etc.

Charity campaigner and model Heather Mills opened the new premises.

The company achieved Motability accreditation in 2009 and covers the Isle of Man for Motability, which can regularly be an adventure crossing the Irish Sea in a force eight gale!

Growing your business in the current climate does take hard graft for sure, but with the right combination of quality products and personalised service, success is out there to be grabbed with both hands.

Our most recent adventure is working in partnership with Age UKX West Cumbria to support the local community through assessing requirements for and supplying mobility equipment.

A selection of our powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters are available for viewing at The BradburyX Independent Living Centre in Workington.
